Tamworth Country Music Festival 2012 In Need Of Big Name

Today a report by The Daily Telegraph stated that Tamworth Country Music Festival’s official publicist Max Markson has admitted that organisers have so far been unable to attract a headline act to 2012s line-up.

According to the report Markson said a big name act is necessary to combat declining attendance.

“What you had last year was Keith Urban and Kenny Rogers performing – two big international stars … “We don’t have that this year,” Markson said.

However, festival organisers remain confident that more than 50,000 punters will attend; an increase from last year’s approximately 35,000 ticket holders. Culminating in the 40th anniversary of the country music festival on 28 January, Markson is looking to other like-minded festivals for guidance.

“Look at Byron Bay Blues Festival, Bob Dylan did that, and that will be great if we can move in that direction,” Markson said.

“It’s good to have an international star because that attracts even more attention,” he said.

So far the line-up includes local country talents such as Beccy Cole, Adam Harvey and Troy Cassar-Daley.
