Blink-182 Already Working On ‘Neighborhoods’ Follow Up

Blink-182 are already working on the follow-up to their 2011 release Neighborhoods, according to a recent interview with Mark Hoppus. He reveals that while his bandmate Tom DeLonge has been away touring with Angels and Airwaves (who will be here on the Soundwave 2012 line-up), he’s been putting together some new songs.

Speaking with Kerrang!: “I’m sure these will all be Blink songs at the moment,” Hoppus says “I don’t have any plans to write songs with anybody else right now. If I do, it’ll be a collaboration or a one-off thing, but everything I’m writing right now is for Blink-182.”

Although he also reveals that they are in the early stages, and couldn’t say exactly how they’ll end up, adding “It’s really too early to tell. At the moment, all I’ve got is a bunch of chord progressions and ideas,” he said. “It’s more me playing my guitar and coming up with little ideas and melodies. By the time it goes to Tom and Travis [Barker] and we work on it as a band, who knows what it will sound like.”

It’s not clear whether or not we’ll get an Australian tour anytime soon, with the last rumours of the band appearing at either the Big Day Out or Soundwave festivals this year. Travis has a fear of flying, which has been seen as a major set back with international touring, and the option of a replacement tour drummer is out of the question.
