Lana Del Rey to Re-Release Debut Record

In an effort to reach a wider audience, American singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey has acquired the rights to her 2010 debut album Lana Del Rey aka Lizzy Grant.

Lana Del Rey aka Lizzy Grant initially cost Del Rey $10,000 to record; yet she still intends to re-release the album, which suffered a short-lived first release due to a lack of financial backing from label Stranger Records. As a result, Lana Del Rey aka Lizzy Grant was mostly listened to via YouTube channels as the album was only available for a couple of months on iTunes.

When speaking with BBC about the record, Del Rey said, “People act like it’s so shrouded in mystery, the ‘forgotten terrible album…’ but if you look on YouTube, all 13 tracks are available with millions of views, so it’s not like no-one’s heard them. We were all proud of it. It’s pretty good.”

Re-release details are still vague with Del Rey informing BBC the record should be back out “maybe in late summer.” Meanwhile, Del Rey’s major label debut Born To Die is set for release on February 3. 2012, via Interscope/Universal.
