And the Tropfest 2012 Winner Is… ‘Lemonade Stand’

Director Alethea Jones has taken out top prize in this year’s Tropfest with her film Lemonade Stand

This year’s Tropfest commemorated the 20th anniversary of the short film festival and was judged by the likes of Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman, Geoffrey Rush and last year’s Tropfest winner Damon Gameau.

As reported by Pedestrian.tv, Jones’ short film was enjoyed by the massive crowd gathered at the Domain, which included actors such as Joel Edgerton, Tobey Maguire and director Baz Luhrmann.

In regards to the film itself, Lemonade Stand centres on a quirky family business standing definite against an overzealous by-the-book council employee.

When speaking about Lemonade Stand Tropfest Founder and Director, John Polson said,

“Lemonade Stand is an incredibly well made film and a favourite amongst the judges. There was intense discussion in the judging room, and some really interesting debates. Alethia should be very proud to have been selected by some of the industry’s greatest talent.”
