National Slam Day 2012 Hits Venues Across The Country

Following on from the Slam rallies in February last year that saw 20,000 music fans marching down Swanston Street in Melbourne to protest oppressive liquor licensing, the Slam organisation is launching National Slam Day this Thursday the 23rd (kind of an anniversary of sorts if you will) which will see small venues all across Australia hosting shows to promote live music.

The project was an open call, with anyone able to go to the Slam website and register their gig to be a part of the event. Any genre, any venue, it doesn’t matter. This is a celebration of live music and small venues, intended to help support this struggling scene against small minded government legislation that mistakenly matches music with violence. With gigs planned pretty much everywhere around the country to start tomorrow, go to the website to see a full gig to find the show nearest you.
