‘Harry Potter’ Author JK Rowling To Write An Adult Novel

Having sold over 400 million books through the Harry Potter series, JK Rowling today announced she will be moving in a new direction with her newest project.

While Harry Potter was published by Bloomsbury, she has signed a new deal with publisher Little, Brown for her adult works in the UK and US.

Talking to The Guardian Rowling stated: “Although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series… The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry’s success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher.”

“I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life.”

No details regarding the best-selling authors new writing project have been revealed, other than that the book will not written for children.

The film series, based on Rowling’s novels, is the highest-grossing film series of all-time, with $7.7 billion in worldwide receipts. The films, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as the three leading characters, spanned a decade: from Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone in 2001, to the final installment of the eight-part series, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows in 2011.
