Madonna Responds To Deadmau5: “I Don’t Support Drug Use”

After last night’s somewhat hilarious but well deserved outburst from Electronic Dance Music king Deadmau5, Madonna has responded with an image stating “From one mouse to another. I don’t support drug use and I never have. I was referring to the song called “Have You Seen Molly” written by my friend who I almost worked with on my album”.

However, it seems as if Deadmau5 has won this Twitter argument, slamming the songstress for her sly references to the drug MDMA (street name Molly).

In response to it, Madonna claims she wasn’t referencing drugs but was instead talking about an upcoming track titled ‘Have You Seen Molly’. However, questions have risen about whether the track itself is discussing the street name for MDMA. Wikipedia describes MDMA as “an entactogenic drug of the phenethylamine and amphetamine class of drugs. In popular culture, MDMA has become widely known as “ecstasy”, usually referring to its street pill form, although this term may also include the presence of possible adulterants.”

Raising quite a valid point, Deadmau5 tweeted “yeah, i really kinda leeeeeeeeroy jenkins’d that shit huh… MDNA / Molly / MDMA / whatever .. something about a track? still seems the same to me, coz its still, in my opinion, unecciscary promotion of the shit that really held EDM down for years.” and also stating that Madonna, with the respect and fan base that she has, could use her voice to promote more positive things rather than drug use at an electronic festival. Even if she was apparently promoting (I call bullshit) the references to such a drug were completely uncalled for, and as Joel Zimmerman kindly put it “… i can appriciate her meteoric career, and all good deeds done, but WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? That’s your big contribution to EDM? Thats your big message to ultra attendies? (sic) hipsterspeak for looking for drugs? fuck off you fucking IDIOT. fuck.”
