Blur Calling It Quits For Good?

Damon Albarn has confirmed Blur will most likely call it quits for good after their performance at the London Olympics closing concert on August 12th.

In 2008 the band announced they would be reforming with their original lineup, after Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon ‘buried the hatchet’. Their first show back was at London’s Hyde Park on July 3rd 2009 and since then the band have performed a number of shows around the world.

In a recent interview with the Guardian, Albarn was asked if the band would record or play live again after the Olympics closing concert, to which Albarn replied:

“No, not really…And I hope that’s the truth: that that’s how we end it.”

He also spoke about the problems the band have had reconnecting when trying to record new material since re-uniting:

“I find it very easy to record with Graham. He’s a daily musician. With the other two, it’s harder for them to reconnect…It’s fine when we play live – it’s really magical still – but actually recording new stuff, and swapping musical influences… it’s quite difficult.”

Blur will headline the London Olympics closing concert on August 12th at Hyde Park.
