Jack White is one of the most influential blues-rock artists of the 21st Century, and after his departure from his band The White Stripes he has started his solo project under his own name. As a result of this solo project, he has gotten many people quite excited about the upcoming release of his album Blunderbuss, and in the build-up to this release, White has unveiled a central theme to the album.
Speaking to the New York Times about the album, White said, “I was writing the liner notes the other day, and it seemed like it had a lot to do with that [death]. For some reason, that was overwhelming throughout the lyric writing”.
This isn’t the first sign of the somewhat quirky influence on his album. Last week, White unveiled the video for the second single off the album Sixteen Saltines, which also carries somewhat morbid connotations nearer the end of the clip; see below.
In recent weeks, White also spoke out about life within his old band, The White Stripes, claiming that “Meg Completely Controlled The White Stripes”
Jack White is heavily rumoured to make an appearance at the 2012 installation of the Splendour In The Grass Festival, which will move back to Belongi Fields, playing the 27th July through until the 29th.
