Facebook Adds ‘Listen’ Button To Artist Pages

Facebook has launched a new ‘Listen’ button – allowing users to listen to music on the social networking site’s artist pages.

According to NME, The ‘Listen’ button will work by automatically connecting to the music streaming service the person uses most often (eg: Rdio or Spotify) and then begin playing the most popular songs from that artist.

Linkin Park, Justin Bieber and Slash have already jumped on the bandwagon and are among the first artists to have the ‘Listen’ button on their artist pages.

Facebook’s Pan-Euro communications manager Iain McKenzie told NME that the button lets fans almost instantly hear tunes from their favourite artists.

“The listen button is the latest way of enjoying music through Facebook,” he said.

“Now, if an artist has their own page, fans can listen to their music with a single click. It’s a fantastic way for musicians to showcase their work to the people who care most about it.”

Facebook now has almost 900 million users across the world and is now reportedly valued at $US 75 billion.
