The Killers Saxophonist Found Dead, Aged 33

Tommy Marth, a saxophonist who toured and recorded with The Killers, has died, aged 33, Yahoo UK reports. Marth also played with a number of Las Vegas bands, including The Big Friendly Corporation and Black Camaro.

Last night the Killers tweeted in memory of Marth:

Timothy Styles from The Big Friendly Corporation dedicated the band’s weekly podcast to Marth:

“There’s been a death in the family. A very tragic one. Essentially what has happened is Ryan Marth and Melissa Marth of the Big Friendly, their middle sibling Tommy, passed away this morning at rather a young age. I’m not going to go into details. People who know him will hear the truth about it later on. But it’s not natural causes, he said.”

According to a blog post written by Marth’s friend, Joshua Ellis, the saxophonist committed suicide; however, this has not been confirmed.

Update: Reuters has confirmed Marth died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.

Tributes from a number of people involved in the Las Vegas music scene have been published in the Las Vegas Sun.
