Glastonbury is quite possibly the world’s most famous festival, and although it went on a well-deserved break for 2012, punters have been promised that it will return in 2013 with a bang. Festival organiser Michael Eavis has informed the tabloids that the 2013 headliners have already been booked and that the festival is well underway. In light of the lineup speculation, Metro have reported on an interview with Eavis, where he told them that he asked Adele to headline the 2013 event but the singer turned down the offer: “She [Adele] knows that we want her anyway but she doesn’t want to do a thing our size”.
He continued: “Going on the Pyramid Stage I think is a bit daunting in front of 80,000 people. It’s a bit much, really… She comes every year usually, has her own little party”. Adele previously stated that she would never play festivals as it didn’t suit her music; however, it’s clear that Glastonbury is an exception and is a favourite of hers.
Glastonbury was headlined by U2, Beyonce and Coldplay last year; however, for those thinking that the lineup was too ‘pop’, the likes of Primal Scream, Chemical Brothers, Queens Of The Stone Age, Fatboy Slim and Mumford & Sons headlined various other stages across the weekend, dwarfing any festival Australia has to offer. The festival will take place from Wednesday 26th to Sunday 30th June, 2013 at the famous Worthy Farm, with tickets expected to be around £200.
