Supafest Dramas Continue; 2013 Festival Unlikely

Despite the fact Supafest promoter John Denison announced the festival would be back in 2013, it is starting to look very unlikely. A source has told The Age that creditors are chasing outstanding debts and that an application for winding up is due to be heard on June 6. On top of that, the company is also being sued by The Phonographic Performance Company of Australia for outstanding royalty payments. According to The Age, the company also owes a large amount to Stadium Australia Operations from 2011.

Update 09/03/2013: Supafest 2013 lineup has been announced

Apparently the promoters had promised creditors they needed just ‘one more year’ to come good on debts amounting to millions, but Supafest 2012 didn’t go as well as planned. A number of punters who sent their tickets back following the promise of a refund are still yet to receive payments. The promoters issued a statement to unhappy Facebook fans 10 days ago that read: “We apologise for the time it is taking to pay the balance of the refunds. We are reconciling what tickets have and have not been scanned which is a timely process. We are seeking till June 1st to finalise all refunds and hope that you can remain patient till then.”

All this conflicts with John Denison’s version of events:
