Watch: ‘Yellow Submarine’ Restored Blu-Ray Clips Brighten Up Beatles’ Classic

Two short clips from the recent digitally restored version of The Beatles’ classic psychedelic film Yellow Submarine has been premiered on RollingStone. The movie’s original hand-drawn artwork can now truly come through, showing the colourful landscape and detail that the original film once portrayed.

The first clip we see from the new version of the 1968 movie, shows the Fab Four move through a psychedelic landscape propelled by the force of a powerful collective sneeze from a group of abstract godheads. While second clip is taken from the Blu Ray bonus features, and has director Heinz Edelmann explaining the making of the Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds portion of the film, explaining that they would draw directly onto the cell of a real time clip of a 60’s documentary to get the effect they needed.

The remastered version of Yellow Submarine is out now on DVD and Blu-ray, alongside a reissue of the film’s original soundtrack.
