Listen: The Offspring – ‘Days Go By’ Full Album

Days Go By marks the ninth studio release from SoCal OG punk rockers The Offspring, who have chosen the release date of June 26, 2012 as it coinsides with the 20th birthday of their 2nd album and punk rock masterpiece Ignition, which was a trailblazer for the genre.

Fans will be stoked to hear that the band has maintained the same vibe and musical integrity as 2008’s Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, and even includes a track from Ignition, Magic Dirt, which has been reworked and reproduced. Frontman Dexter Holland explains the highly nostalgic decision to Rolling Stone Magazine: “Every time we tried to play ‘Dirty Magic,’ five people would jump up and down and the rest of the audience was scratching their heads. But it was always one of those songs that kept on coming up. We thought it was worth another look.”

The band teamed up once again with Bob Rock (Metallica, Aerosmith) for the album, much like they did with Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, a decision that Holland explains as a no-brainer: “He’s such a great producer”, Holland says. “We didn’t know eachother before the last record, but it went really well, so we thought we’d try it again. I knew it could go one of two ways – either it’s gonna get better ’cause we’re more comfortable working with eachother, or sometimes you get too comfortable and nobody listens to eachother anymore.” He pauses, “Luckily that didn’t happen”.

The band has been busy showcasing the new material around the world, having just wrapped up a tour through Europe, and will be taking the show through North America mid July. Nothing yet has been said about Australian dates, though an appearance at Soundwave 2013 isn’t out of the question. Check out the album below; do they still have it?
