Ok, I now officially feel bad for the guy, he just can’t get a break…well not the break he wants anyway. Admittedly this was the first I’d heard that the two singers had been dating, but according to many reports, including their individual Twitters, the couple have decided to call it quits after two years together.
Corgan, who will be featured on The Veronicas soon-to-be-released album Life On Mars, has found himself defending his Ex against his vicious fans, who are taking to the safe haven of Twitter to attack the Australian pop star. Origliasso even became a muse for The Smashing Pumpkins frontman, who drew influence from her and their relationship for much of the band’s latest release Oceania.
Though when things got a little heated on Twitter, as jaded Pumpkins fans arched up, Corgan put his foot down, defending the one half of The Veronicas, and indeed The Veronicas as a whole as well.
Ladies and gentleman, it seems some among you have construed that their is an issue between me and my ex @Jessicaeronica, some hidden thing
— Billy Corgan (@Billy) June 21, 2012
I’m taking to twitter (because I see where she is being attacked here) and I ask that she be respected as a woman I love and admire
— Billy Corgan (@Billy) June 21, 2012
Although our relationship has ended, we remain the best of friends and I ask that if you respect me you’ll treat her with the same respect
— Billy Corgan (@Billy) June 21, 2012
Corgan’s response blurs the lines between chivalry and a last minute Hail Mary, I Love You but his intentions seem noble enough. Origliasso discussed the issue on her own Twitter though in a much less agitated tone:
How cool and sweet are all you little lovers <3 Thank you for all your kind words. People love to make assumptions about the details of

others relationships, & all you can hope for is that each person involved will stand up & honour the truth, & love about it all. I am so
— Jessica Veronica (@Jessicaveronica) June 20, 2012
grateful for you all right now. Sending out clouds of love to each of you X

The two had apparently met during a songwriting session, Corgan told The Herald Sun back in 2010. Stating that the two of them know what it’s like to be misunderstood and that “She’s brought a lot of sunshine in my life, but I was ready to receive it. The window was open. If she’d met me a few years ago I don’t know if I would have understood her, she’s just such a unique person, there’s not a lot of people I’ve ever met who are like her.”
Chin up Corgan, they say bad things happen in threes, you’re probably up to about 15 now and well overdue for a win. The Smashing Pumpkins will be here for Splendour in the Grass, and The Veronicas’ first single off the album is set to drop July.
