James Iha Streams New Single, Album To Come In September

Former Smashing Pumpkins and A Perfect Circle guirarist James Iha has released the first taste of his new solo album Look to the Sky.

The track – To Who Knows Where – is now streaming on SoundCloud, with Look to the Sky to be released on September 18.

The album was produced by Iha and Nathan Larson at Iha’s New York studio, and is his first solo effort since his 1998 album Let It Come Down.

Iha said he took his time (almost 15 years) creating the follow-up so he could make the purest record possible.

“I wanted this record to be more eclectic and reflect all of my tastes, which is why it took so long”, he said.

“It was important to me for the record to be multi-dimensional and complex. Being a part of the Smashing Pumpkins, and working with so many other bands and artists since my last album, gave me a fresh perspective on what music could be.”

Iha has also brought in several guests to help out on Look to the Sky, including the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O and Nick Zinner, Tegan and Sara’s Sara Quin, Fountains of Wayne’s Adam Schlesinger, and Television guitarist Tom Verlaine.
