Watch: New Free Documentary – Manchester: Beyond Oasis

It’s been a massive week for Manchester Music this week in more forms than one. Last night, The Stone Roses took the stage for their second sold-out homecoming gig at Heaton Park, which was praised by critics all across the world. Manchester rock was in its prime in the late 80s and early 90s; however, recently it has seen a very gradual comeback onto the British music scene, which has been revolting against the US invasion of electo-pop with artists such as The Vaccines and The Enemy releasing astounding albums of late. Now a new documentary has emerged online, going beyond the massive names that represent Manchester and its music scene.

Aptly titled, Manchester: Beyond Oasis, the independent documentary takes an extremely in-depth look at Manchester’s current state of affairs, showcasing some fantastic acts and featuring interviews with some of the heads of the Manchester scene.

The documentary is part of the independent Beyond Series, and is a new concept from a guy called Serious Feather. The Manchester leg is the second instalment, following that of Iceland: Beyond Sigur Ros, which follows the development of Icelandic music over the years. The series will continue to locate music capitals across the world, possibly making a trip to Australia.
