The Strokes Are Working On A New Album – Confirmed

There’s been talk in the past few weeks about whether or not The Strokes are in fact working on the follow-up to their fourth album Angles. Originally it was thought that they were already recording at the famous Electric Lady Studios in NYC before their management came out to quickly deny any reports.

However, it now seems that might have been true after all. In an interview with NME, guitarist Albert Hammond Jr’s father, Albert Hammond Sr, has revealed that they are in fact back in the studio and working on the yet-to-be-named fifth album. Hammond Sr said: “Albert says that the stuff they’re doing is incredible. They’re doing it themselves with their friend, engineer and producer. He just says ‘Dad, it’s incredible’.”

He goes on to talk about the sound and direction of their new material, saying: “I don’t think they’ll go in a wildly different direction. Obviously the songs will be different, but I think The Strokes are The Strokes; they always will be The Strokes.”

We had already heard reports way back in early 2011, around the time when Angles was released, that they had already been looking towards their next effort. Considering the gap between the third and fourth albums, this, coupled with the latest news, should make Strokes fans very happy.
