All Tomorrow’s Parties in Financial Trouble?

Back in April this year, Music Feeds reported on the significant financial hit taken by travelling festival All Tomorrow’s Parties (ATP) when it visited Australia in 2009. ATP, which allows the headlining act to select the festival’s lineup, was curated by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds when it visited Australia, but unfortunately it suffered from a lack of ticket sales.

When it was suggested to ATP founder Barry Hogan, during an interview with Melbourne radio station Triple R, that if ATP was to return to Australia music fans would buy tickets en masse, Hogan replied with disbelief.

“Really? Why didn’t they go last time? Where were they? We lost loads of money and they wouldn’t come. And they’re like, ‘I wish I went to that’. Well, you didn’t – and that’s why we’re not doing it again.”

Now in further setbacks, it appears that ATP may be forced into administration. The 405 has reported that a meeting of creditors was noted in the London Gazette on June 21, 2012.

ATP has addressed the rumours via posts on the festival’s official Facebook page and Twitter account, stating that all currently scheduled or future planned events will not be affected by internal changes within the company. Presumably this means that ATP 2012 curated by The National will go ahead as planned.

As for now, there are no long-term details on the future of the festival, but ATP assures that there’s no need for music fans to panic.
