Beck Contributes 3 New Tracks To PS3 Game

Although there’s been no official word on a new album, fans of Beck have been treated to a variety of new tunes from the genre-defying singer-songwriter of late. Firstly there was Looking for a Sign, a new song that featured on the 2011/2012 (depending on where you live) film Jeff Who Lives at Home.

Next was a new single and B-side titled I Just Started Hating Some People Today and Blue Randy respectively. The two new songs were recorded at Jack White’s Third Man Records Studio as part of the label’s Blue Series. The new single was quickly followed by a collaboration with Childish Gambino (who will be here for BDO 2013) which features on Gambino’s new mixtape Royalty.

Now 3 more new tunes from Beck will be listenable to those who purchase the new Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita game Sound Shapes. The new tracks from Beck are titled Cities, Touch the People and Spiral Staircase and will appear in Sound Shapes, which allows players to create their own unique musical levels in a reinvention of the classic platformer format. The game also features music from I Am Robot and Proud, Jim Guthrie and Deadmau5.

If you can’t wait to get your hands on Sound Shapes or for Beck to come out as part of this year’s Harvest Festival, then check out this cover by Beck of Woody Guthrie’s I Ain’t Got No Home, which, as pointed out by DIY, pays homage to what would be Guthrie’s 100th birthday.
