Green Day’s ‘¡Dos!’ Will Feature Tribute To Amy Winehouse

Green Day’s ambitious album trilogy ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré! is set to feature a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. In a report by NME, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong revealed that the track, simply titled Amy, will appear as the final song on the second album of the trilogy, ¡Dos!.

“I didn’t know her, I just thought it was a real tragic loss. It’s interesting because if you think about ‘¡Dos!’, it’s a party record, and so at the end of it ‘Amy’ kind of comes across as the consequences of the party,” Armstrong explained to NME.

“[Her death] happened last summer, around this time I believe, and I just thought her music and her taste in music was so connected to old soul music and the original Motown and Otis Redding and Sam Cooke and things like that. And I think that was a major loss because that was a generation’s connection to that, and this was someone who should be here now and I just felt really sad. ‘Oh my God, this huge musical figure that just got lost’ and, you know, that sucks.”

So far Green Day has released a lyric video for the trilogies lead single Oh Love, as well as teaser videos for ¡Uno! and ¡Dos!.

Release dates for each record are as follows: the first album ¡Uno! coming out on September 25, the second album ¡Dos! on November 13, and finally, ¡Tré! will come out on January 15.
