Darryl Cotton Passes Away Aged 62

Australian singer, actor and television presenter Darryl Cotton has passed away today from liver cancer, aged 62. Cotton was a founding member of the 1960’s pop rock band Zoot, whose singles included You’d Better Get Goin’ Now and 1 × 2 × 3 × 4.

After Zoot disbanded, Cotton relocated to LA where he penned songs for the likes of Olivia Newton-John and Shaun Cassidy before returning to Australia to embark on a solo career, which included the 1980 top ten hit Same Old Girl. Later in life Cotton would go on to act in the TV series The Young Doctors and co-host The Early Bird Show, a 1980s children’s show.

In a report by the Herald Sun, Cotton’s manager Jeff Joseph expressed his admiration for Cotton as he battled cancer, being diagnosed in May

“He was philosophical from the outset when told of his condition, but was determined to fight it until the very end and maintained a very positive attitude,” Mr Joseph said.

“Darryl was much loved and highly respected by men and women alike, both in and out of the entertainment industry,” he said.

Music Feeds sends our condolences to Cotton’s surviving family and friends.
