Deftones Play Two New Songs At Intimate Hollywood Show

American heavy rockers Deftones have unveiled two new tracks as part of their show at Hollywood venue Troubadour last night. The two new songs were part of a sweaty 20-song set at the intimate venue. The first one – titled Rosemary – was first premiered at a private show for their record label.

The second new track – played for the first time at the show – was referred to on the band’s setlist as Roller Derby. Both songs are likely to appear on the band’s forthcoming new record, which is scheduled for release on October 9. Frontman Chino Marino has previously told Billboard that the album will be filled with ‘dynamics’.

“It’s not a super fast or slow record. It’s very dynamic,” Moreno said.

“Some of my favourite things about Deftones are the dynamics. Yes, we’re a heavy band, but we’re not just in-your-face aggro the whole time, punching you in the face. There’s a lot of aggression in some of the music, but there’s also this very soothing element where there’s a lot of soundscapes rather than attack, attack, attack the whole time.”

“I understand that’s a big part of our sound, but I really feel like we reached a peak on our dynamics on this record with those two qualities — the beauty of something and just straight, ruthless aggression.”
