Wolfmother React To Troll: Triple J Can “Go Fuck Themselves”

Update 02/08: Triple j respond by trolling: “We’re very happy to announce we’re replacing Lindsay Triple J McDougall with Andrew Stockdale as the new host of the triple j Drive show, effective immediately. Andrew is looking forward to collecting his ‘government paid wages’ with his ‘left wing conservative’ co-workers. When asked for comment, The Doctor said ‘triple j can go f**k themselves’.”

Serial douchebag and Wolfmother frontman Andrew Stockdale has publicly unleashed on youth radio station triple j, slamming the nationwide radio station for their lack of support and labelling them as left wing conservatives.

His entire argument holds as much water as a sieve given the massive role triple j played in the band’s rise to international success. The band scored J Award and listener’s choice for Album of the Year, and claimed 6% of the title tracklist on the Hottest 100 chart. That to me sounds like support.

The once fruitful relationship is obviously in tatters after a funny and true tweet from triple j in regards to their set at Splendour in the Grass, commenting on the crowd in attendance being “99.95% male and 00.05% other”: something the band did not like one bit, replying to the tweet by calling the station “100% consistently lame…”

Obviously struggling to come to terms with his diminishing relevance, Stockdale took the argument from Twitter to the stage. According to FasterLouder, at their recent show with The Smashing Pumpkins in Sydney, the frontman berated triple j further to the crowd: “Left wing conservatives sitting up in their offices on their government paid wages.” He further spewed his anger, explaining that “they never paid attention to him and his early demos until Wolfmother started getting hyped and as soon as everyone began to ‘hate’ Wolfmother they stopped playing them.” He capped off the lecture with: “triple j can go fuck themselves!”.

While he is entitled to his opinion, triple j is known for being a great launching platform for young acts. Wolfmother would not be in a position to support The Pumpkins without the station’s support. What do you think?
