Watch: Sigur Ros Unveil Second Video For ‘Varúð’

Sigur Ros have today released the second project from the Valtari Mystery Film Experiment. Already we’ve seen the first clip for the track Varúð but here is the second clip: a master combination of urban scenery and lofty atmospheric music.

Directed by Ryan McGinley, the clip was shot throughout different settings in New York. The track, titled in their native Finnish ‘language’ will feature on their up-and-coming album Valtari. Aussie fans will be some of the first to sample the new goods, with the band locked in to appear at Harvest Festival.

Frontman Georg Holm spoke to DIY about the release, which dropped May 28, “This record has been so strange. It’s been a strange process, and everything about it has just been different from everything else.”

“We did record a couple of songs. Bits of songs, at the same time as we were finishing ‘Takk…’. Somewhere in that time period. Then we recorded in London… It’s been all of these little bits and pieces, added to it and taken away from it. It’s been kind of schizophrenic. Sometimes not realising what we have, forgetting songs and discovering new things, like, ‘Oh yeah, we did that! That’s really good’.”

“It was great fun doing this. It was just so far in between, and – like I say – schizophrenic: not realising that we had a whole album. It didn’t happen until late last year that we realised we had an album, but I’d say it was an enjoyable process, definitely. The whole thing, it’s been good.”
