Nicki Minaj has caused headaches for another concert promoter, and this time, Richard Branson and his V Festival crew are on the receiving end.
Minaj was forced to cancel her appearances at V Festival at Highlands Park in London as she had suffered “strained vocal chords”, according to her representative.
“Despite doctor’s orders, she performed on a bruised vocal chord in New York on August 14. As a result, the chord has gotten worse. After her most recent x-ray, the doctor advises she rest her voice for a few more days.”
It’s not the first time Minaj has bailed out on an appearance right before it was scheduled to happen: in June, she pulled out of New York radio station Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert, due to remarks made about her by one of the station’s announcers.
And recently, Minaj had to postpone her Australian tour as it originally conflicted with dates on her European tour in September/October. She’ll now be coming to our shores in November and December.
It’s not the first drama V Festival organisers have faced this year: Frank Ocean recently pulled the pin on his spot at the festival along with a string of other European dates at the beginning of this week.
