Papa Roach Frontman Vocal Issues Continue, Forced To Cancel Show

Scheduled to perform at last weekend’s Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival at Grand Rapids, Papa Roach were forced to pull out of their set due to vocal issues that frontman Jacoby Shaddix can’t seem to shake.

Feeds has reported on the ongoing throat problems previously, with Shaddix being ‘bummed out’ by a callus that has been forming on his throat, preventing him from reaching his top range. The problems have gotten so bad that P.O.D, who were slated in to perform on another stage at another time, had to fill in their set.

While there has been no statement from Papa Roach, P.O.D were actually the ones who broke the news. Tweeting to fans that the Christian nu-metallers were “Headed to Grand Rapids. Papa Roach dropped off today’s show so we’re covering their slot last minute. Prayers 4 Jacoby to heal his vocals.”

This is just the latest in a series of issues that the embattled vocalist has faced. Marital dramas and addiction have plagued his recent comeback effort, though as Shaddix told The Pulse of the Radio (Via Blabbermouth), everything is being channelled into this new album: “I was a mess. I’m a mess,” he said. “You know, I was in the process of getting sober again and I just, you know, I’m a wreck. I’m a rock ‘n’ roll freight train. I’m a VH1 story. It came through on the record, you know, so there’s desperation, there’s hope, exhilaration, there’s empowerment…it’s a myriad of emotions. You know, there’s songs on this record that I listen to and I’m just — they hit so deep to me, I’m like, ‘God, I don’t even want to listen to that song right now’.”

The new album is expected to drop October 2, though fans have already had time for the first single to sink in, which was released last month. If you haven’t checked out Still Swingin’ yet, we’ve got the lyric video for you below.
