John Lennon’s Killer Denied Parole

Last week, Feeds reported that after nearly 32 years, John Lennon’s killer, Mark David Chapman, would be going up for yet another parole hearing. The man who essentially killed a musical legacy has been yet again denied.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the transcript of the hearing was only just released, even though the verdict had been passed days ago. Parole board member Sally Thompson wrote that “despite your positive efforts while incarcerated, your release at this time would greatly undermine respect for the law and tend to trivialise the tragic loss of life which you caused as a result of this heinous, unprovoked, violent, cold and calculated crime.”

Thompson continued, stating: “the panel notes your good conduct, program achievements, educational accomplishments, positive presentation, remorse, risk and needs assessment, letters of support, significant opposition to your release and all other statutory factors were considered, however, parole shall not be granted for good conduct and program completions alone.”

The horrific indecent occurred on December 8th, 1980 outside a Manhattan building where the Beatle lived. It has been marked as one of the worst events in modern musical history.
