Blink 182 Recording New Material

Blink 182 bassist and co-vocalist Mark Hoppus has stirred up excitement amongst fans by recently taking to his Twitter account and posting a tweet that simply reads, “it begins…” followed by a link to Hoppus’s Google + profile, where the pop-punk veteran has posted a screen shot of the music software program Logic.

Fans immediately started posting, and pondering what exactly had begun, with some hopeful that the image was the beginnings of new Blink 182 material while others wondered if it was for Hoppus’s other band +44, which is currently inactive. As the questions piled up, Hoppus posted a reply on his Google + account to set the record straight.

“Sorry, not trying to be mysterious. Yes, this is me opening a new file for a blink-182 song. I had three ideas today, all very different. I wish I knew how to operate Logic better. These guitar tracks sound like Frankenstein’s monster singing dub step…”

Hoppus has previously spoken about committing his time the Blink, after a past inter with Kerrang revealed that he doesn’t “have any plans to write songs with anybody else right now”, and that “everything I’m writing right now is for Blink-182.”

Blink 182 will be in Australia early next year as part of Soundwave 2013. With the increasingly popular festival selling out in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, Blink announced via their Facebook page a few days ago that the band has been issued some extra tickets to give away to Australian fans.

“Thanks to our friends at Soundwave. They have given us some tickets to each show to give away to the die hard fans of Australia. More details to follow on how we will be giving these away. We are not going to make it easy though since these are hard to come by. We will be announcing the clues through Twitter and Instagram.”
