ARIA Announce Plans For Re-Vamped Ceremony

2012 is gearing up to be the biggest night for the night of nights of Australian music. Organisers behind the 2012 ARIA Awards have announced that things will be done differently this year, revamping the experience for fans all over the country.

The first change comes in the form of a brand new night. For 25 years straight, the ARIAs have called Sunday night home, but for number 26, the show has been booked in on Thursday, November 29. Furthermore, rather than the usual Allphones Arena in Olympic Park, the show will take place for the first time since 2000 at Sydney’s Entertainment Centre, according to Moshcam.

Now here is where things get juicy: ARIA in cahoots with Destination NSW (a division of the NSW government) will be announcing ARIA week. Taking place in the same week of the event, the program will be chock full of Australian music goodness, celebrating our long list of audio achievements in the form of live performances, forums, and workshops at various Sydney venues.

Some things will stay the same, however. Channel Nine subsidiary Go! will be broadcasting the Awards and the nominees will be announced on Wednesday, 3rd October at a special function taking place at the Art Gallery of NSW.

It’s set to be an absolute doozy of a year. With many Australian favourites currently killing it overseas and releasing new material, it will be a tough battle with Hilltop Hoods, 360, Goyte (who’s album made it out in time for this years awards), Missy Higgins, Guy Sebastian, and many more all having it out for top spot.

Stay tuned for more deets on ARIA week and start doing your research on who you plan on putting money on this year.
