The Rolling Stones Will Release Two New Songs

What’s a greatest hits album without two new songs? It’s a tried and tested staple of ‘best of’ compilations that has once again been adopted, this time by none other than The Rolling Stones. Last week Music Feeds reported that the Stones had been tinkering away in a Paris studio to unknown ends.

Now, thanks to Consequence of Sound, we know that the band has written and recorded two new songs, titled Gloom and Doom and One Last Shot, which will appear on an upcoming greatest hits album dubbed GRRR!, (cover art pictured above).

As noted by Ultimate Classic Rock, the new material marks the first time The Rolling Stones have recorded together since finishing work on A Bigger Bang, which was released in 2005. GRRR! will boast 50 tracks over three discs spanning across the Stones’ entire career and is set for North American release on November 13. There will also be a special deluxe box set edition with over 80 songs on offer.

A new documentary on The Rolling Stones titled Crossfire Hurricane will also be available for purchase around the same time in November.

Director Brett Morgen said of the upcoming doco, “Crossfire Hurricane invites the audience to experience firsthand the Stones’ nearly mythical journey from outsiders to rock and roll royalty. This is not an academic history lesson. Crossfire Hurricane allows the viewer to experience the Stones’ journey from a unique vantage point. It’s an aural and visual rollercoaster ride.”
