No Use For A Name Officially Retire

Dying Scene have reported that popular 90’s punk band No Use for a Name have officially retired from active duty after the tragic and surprising passing of frontman Tony Sly. The news came during N.U.F.A.N’s set at Macadam Festival in Quebec, Canada, which functioned as a tribute show to Tony and a fundraiser for the Tony Sly Memorial Fund – a fund set up to support Tony’s two surviving daughters.

Current and past members of N.U.F.A.N gathered at the festival and played with a handful of guest vocalists and Tony’s remaining family. Reportedly, during the performance bassist Matt Riddle, the only active member from the band’s 90s heyday, informed the crowd that N.U.F.A.N couldn’t continue without Tony.

“This is it, this is the last No Use for a Name show ever… No one wants to do this without Tony,” said Riddle addressing fans at Macadam Festival.

Sly passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 31, 2012, aged 41. He is survived by his wife Brigitte, their two daughters Fiona and Keira, his brothers Mike and Jonathan Sly, and his parents Pauline and John Sly.

Both Tony and N.U.F.A.N will be greatly missed by fans.
