Chicago Mayor Denies Accusations Of Liking Nickleback

This kinda’ shit might get you locked up in Russia, but in the so-called ‘Land of the Free’ calling out your political leaders isn’t always met with unjust jailing, and on occasion can even be coupled with humour. As reported by Loudwire, a teacher’s strike in Chicago has turned amusing when one protester, a 10th grade math teacher by the name of Mike Konkoleski, accused Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel of enjoying a little bit of Nickleback in his free time.

Konkoleski’s hand-written sign (as pictured above) instantly became an internet sensation and put the protest, along with his claims of Emanuel’s affinity for Nickleback, on a global stage. Despite the Chicago Teachers Union strike campaigning for increased pay and against changes to health benefits, it was Konkoleski’s deeply offensive suggestion of Emanuel listening to Nickleback for pleasure that the Chicago Mayor felt it most prudent to respond to, lest the very moral fibre of his character come into question and he be unceremoniously thrown out of office and unmercifully into Guantanamo Bay.

Relaying a message through his spokesperson Tarrah Cooper, who had received an e-mail inquiry into Emanuel’s alleged Nickleback listening habits, the reply correspondence simply read ‘No’.

However, for Konkoleski this matter is far from over. Sure Emanuel may have denied listening to Nickleback (who wouldn’t) but Konkoleski is certain there’s some shameful CDs in the politician’s collection. Now Konkoleski has a new sign and a new accusation; let’s see Emanuel dodge this bullet…
