New Melbourne Venue ‘The Yarraville Club’ To Open In November

Melbourne’s live music scene has received a shot in the arm with a new venue to open in the city’s West at the start of November.

theMusic.com.au reports that The Yarraville Club, located at 135 Stephen Street in…you guessed it, Yarraville, will be run by well-known local music identity James Young and hold up to 600 punters.

Young occasionally does music news for Triple M Melbourne and is known for co-owning and booking popular rock venue Cherry Bar in AC/DC lane in the city’s CBD.

He reckons the location of the venue will hopefully make it a successful venture.

“Yarraville and the new West represent a thriving creative community crying out for a quality local live music venue; one of size, imagination and care,” he said.

“The Yarraville Club can be that venue. I expect it to lead to great things for music lovers, local artists and the greater Melbourne’s West.”

The first event on the books is a tribute night for The Rolling Stones’ classic 1972 album Exile on Main Street on Saturday, November 3.

The record – which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year – will be performed back to back by some of Australia’s best artists, including Jack Howard (Hunters & Collectors) and Dave Larkin (Dallas Crane).

The show starts at 7pm. Tickets are $45 for dinner and the show, or $25 for just the show.
