Rolling Stones Launch Augmented Reality Campaign For GRRR! In 50 Cities

The Rolling Stones are gearing up to release their new greatest hits album GRRR! by doing an interesting marketing campaign involving the use of 3D augmented reality technology that spans five continents, 50 cities and 3000+ locations.

Landmarks such as Big Ben in London, New York’s Empire State Building, Tokyo’s Skytree and the Sydney Opera House have been taken over by a variety of virtual 3D gorillas King Kong style, modelled on the GRRR! album artwork. Over the past few weeks, fans have been invited to download the free uView app (links below) which they can use to find their nearest tagged location and to watch the stunning GRRR! artwork fully realised in 3D animation right before their eyes.

Fans are encouraged to take photographs of the Gorilla animations in action and share them via Twitter @Rollingstone, including #GRRR! in their Tweet, or alternatively email their photos to grrr@rollingstones.com. A fan photo wall can be found at http://www.rollingstones.com/grrr-home/.

The uView Application is available to download now for iOS and Android devices.
