Marina And The Diamonds Record Label Scrap ‘Ugly’ Music Video

Atlantic Records has found itself on the wrong side of UK electropop sensation Marina and the Diamonds. Label execs have thrown out the songstress’ latest video effort, labeling the clip as too ugly.

Marina and the Diamonds, stage name for Welsh musician Marina Diamandis, were set to release the clip for How to Be a Heartbreaker today, though after what we can assume was a very heated meeting, that release date has been moved to the end of the week. As Diamandis said, “If not, I am happy to leak the ‘minger’ version for my fans.” According to NME.

‘Minger’ version refers to the one shut down by her label. Prior to that, Diamandis took to her Twitter account to berate the company, stating, “someone at my record label won’t let me release the video [because] I look ugly in it apparently + we need more $ / time to paint out ugly parts”.

The track features on the US release of Electra Heart. It didn’t make it to the UK version though, as the single was finished after the album had wrapped up. Stay tuned for the audited version of the clip, which is sure to come soon – if not, keep your eyes out for the ugly version.
