Beck Announces One Harvest Festival Sideshow Date

Beck has announced a one and only sideshow to go alongside his appearance on the Harvest Festival 2012 lineup. The lucky city that gets to enjoy Mr Hansen in a more intimate setting will be Sydney, who can see him at the State Theatre on 14th November.

In 1994, at just 24 years old, Beck released his breakthrough hit Loser, one of the catchiest, most off-kilter tracks of the decade. It made him famous, ridiculously so, but like other great artists before him, it would only be the accumulation of decades of different projects that would enable the true enormity of Beck’s talents to be seen.

Since releasing Mellow Gold (the album that contained Loser) Beck has churned out a further 8 studio albums, all of which have taken a new and unique direction. He’s definitely not a one-hit wonder by any means.

Beck’s latest album Song Reader, which you could kind of call a new release of material, comes in a book form that has 108 pages that make up 20 individual song booklets. You might have some trouble putting it into your CD player, or importing it to iTunes, though, as it doesn’t actually contain any recorded material. To hear it, you’ll have to take the sheet music and try and make it all by yourself.

You might be able to catch some of the new material for yourself when you see him in Sydney, or if you’re lucky enough to have a ticket to this year’s Harvest Festival.
