Soundgarden are back with the first official single to be lifted off their forthcoming album King Animal, which is out November 12.
The aptly-titled Been Away Too Long is available on iTunes now, and you can get it instantly for free if you pre-order King Animal on iTunes.
After their mediocre-ish effort with Live to Rise for The Avengers soundtrack – Been Away Too Long has definitely got a bit more of a punch to it. However, whether it is anything near as good as their sludgy classics prior to splitting up in the mid 1990s is debatable.
King Animal is Soundgarden’s first studio album in over 15 years, and was co-produced with the band’s longtime friend and producer Adam Kasper in Seattle.
The album has been put together after Soundgarden did the worldwide festival circuit in the first half of this year, including Big Day Out in January. Recently, there was suspicion by Radar Music that the band might be teaming up with fellow grunge icons Pearl Jam for a joint tour in 2013, as Matt Cameron drums for both bands.
