2012 ARIA Awards Nominees Announced: 360, Goyte, And The Jezabels Lead The Way

The ARIA awards are only 8 weeks away, and today we’ve received the list of nominees and potential winners for the 2012 event. This year the ceremony will be staged at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, Darling Harbour on Thursday, 29th November. This year we get a mixture of new and established artists, with outspoken Melbourne rapper 360 claiming 6 nominations.

Last year was dominated by Gotye and his mega hit single Somebody That I Used to Know. While Gotye features again in this year’s list, there aren’t any other nominees who are that obvious to win. 360 could easily be the frontrunner of the night to take out awards such as Album of the Year and Best Male Artist.

After their 3 nominations last year, The Jezabels received a big haul in 2012 on the back of their album Prisoner, which is nominated for 5 ARIAs: Best Australian Live Act, Best Group, Best Independent Release, Best Rock Album, and the prestigious Album of the Year.

Sydney’s own Lanie Lane will hopefully make an impact this year with her debut album To the Horses up for Best Blues & Roots Album, and Breakthrough Artist Release. She is also up for Best Female Artist and Producer of the Year.

Other notable nominees that we could see on the winner’s list include: Angus Stone, Missy Higgins, The Bamboos, Katie Noonan and Kimbra.

The night will see performances from 360, Hilltop Hoods, Jessica Mauboy, The Jezabels and The Temper Trap
