Cat Empire, Jimmy Cliff And More Announced For WOMAdelaide 2013

Top dogs behind Adelaide’s most diverse festival, WOMAdelaide, have today begun the lineup trickle. Cat Empire, The Herd, the legendary Jimmy Cliff and Jazz virtuoso Hugh Masekela are the first revealed to be performing.

This is but a small sample of what we can expect from the lineup of 60 acts selected from an array of 30 different countries. So far, the lineup seems to have gone down a treat amongst the festival’s loyal clientele, who are attracted to the boutique festival partly because of the musical talent, but also because of the highly inclusive nature of the event.

“Both artists have not only been hugely influential musical figures for more than five decades, they still know how to put on a sensational show,” said WOMAdelaide director Ian Scobie to Adelaide Now, who has successfully brought down Jimmy Cliff for the 2nd time in several years, and has secured Hugh Masekela’s only Aussie gig.

He further added: “And anyone that’s experienced The Cat Empire and The Herd on festival stages know that they’re going to see two of the best Australian live bands of the last decade.”

You can expect another 25 acts to be announced October 30, with the full lineup dropping in November. WOMAdelaide kicks off 8-11 March in Adelaide’s Botanic Park.
