Mick Jagger: “I Hope To Come To Australia” – Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Shows

With the hype around the Rolling Stones latest 50th Anniversary tour still buzzing around the media, the obvious questions arise as to whether or not they’ll be expanding beyond the 4 shows they announced a week-and-a-half ago to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary. Keith Richards has already speculated that they’ll be going in to 2013 with more shows, and hopefully a wider world tour as well, which could include Australia.

A quick interview with The Age has given us a small hope, after they put the question of an appearance in Australia anytime soon to frontman Mick Jagger, who told them “Not this week, but I hope to come to Australia. I haven’t been there for ages. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Talk about playing shows in Australia has actually been going since the beginning of the year, all during the excitement for a 50th anniversary world tour, which was probably going to happen if the band had felt more ready to do it. Goldcoast.com.au had reported that they were planning an Aussie run of shows sometime this year.

A few months later Herald Sun music reporter Nui Te Koha suggested that a planned 20-date tour would very likely include an Aussie show in there somewhere.

So until we find out more on whether or not these iconic British rock legends are prepared to expand their shows further, it’s nice to know that at least they have us in mind for a show or two. but we’ll have to wait to find out.
