It’s a bit scary to think that it’s time to start gearing up for Laneway Festival sideshows, but that lasts about 2 seconds before the excitement kicks in. Sidetracking from their Laneway duties in the coming year are Poliça, who have announced that they will be headlining shows in Sydney and Melbourne while in town.
Very quickly finding their footing in the indie world, Poliça took the world aback with their debut offering Give You the Ghost. The captivating vocals of frontwoman Channy Leanagh gave Poliça the point of difference needed to separate them from the otherwise bloated scene.
So enchanting is the band’s artful, emotionally driven electronic music that they’ve earned the unwavering support of the sort of people who know what they’re talking about. I mean, really know what they’re talking about. Jay-Z has expressed his passion for the band’s music, as well as Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, who recently called them “…the best band I’ve ever heard.” Boom.
