Sir Paul McCartney And Nancy Shevell Almost Involved In Helicopter Crash

Sir Paul McCartney and wife Nancy Shevell have narrowly missed being in a potentially fatal helicopter crash.

The Daily Mail reports that the couple were “centimetres away from disaster” when, during their flight, the pilot of their helicopter became “disorientated” in bad weather and plunged towards trees.

However, with barely any time to spare, the pilot dramatically lifted the chartered Sikorsky S-76C aircraft away from the rain-lashed tree tops and up to safety.

The incident happened just as the aircraft was attempting to land on a helipad at Sir Paul and Nancy’s estate in East Essex. As a result, the helicopter eventually diverted to a nearby airport and landed safely.

The near miss is being investigated by the Department of Transport. Sir Paul and Nancy have declined to comment on the incident and are apparently unaware of how close they were to crashing.

The couple were on the way home after attending the launch of a vegetarian cookbook written by Sir Paul’s eldest daughter, Mary, in London’s West End earlier in the night.

Sir Paul’s Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr will be in Australia for a series of shows with his ‘All-Starr Band’ in February. Second shows have been added in Sydney and Melbourne. For all the information, click here.
