Lana Del Rey has explained the origin behind the opening lyrics to Cola (Pussy), one of the new tracks from her recently released Paradise EP. The lyric in question go as follows: “My pussy tastes like Pepsi Cola”.
Although there’s nothing particularly cryptic about the Del Rey’s choice of words the lyric have nevertheless made quite an impression throughout the music world. Triple j presenters Tom and Alex had the chance to talk with Del Rey about the lyrics, asking the prudent question, ‘Why have you gone with Pepsi and not Coke?”
“I have a Scottish boyfriend and that’s just what he said! So I don’t know,” responded Del Rey.
Applauding Del Rey for the ‘gutsy’ verse, the sultry songstress went to explain that although there was some reservations from her people around her, Del Rey had no hesitation when including the lyric.
“For me, that song was just so cool. The guys got to play electric guitars… the way the chorus opens up and it has these really tropical undertones. For me, the vibe of it is so good. I love it,” Del Rey explained.
