Listen: Jane’s Addiction Cover The Rolling Stones ‘Sympathy For The Devil’

Jane’s Addiction have covered The Rolling Stones’ Sympathy for the Devil for the Sons of Anarchy soundtrack volume 2, due out next Monday, November 19. The cover is fairly faithful to the original, just with perhaps a little less sass and a little more suspense, while Consequence of Sound aptly describe it as ‘highway bluegrass’ that fits perfectly into the theme of the show.

COS also notes that the soundtrack will contain covers of Iggy Pop, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Stevie Wonder (check it out below). Meanwhile, Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro makes a cameo appearance in the final two episodes of Sons of Anarchy season 5.

In other news The Rolling Stones have attempted to justify the lofty ticket prices for their four 50th Anniversary shows taking place in London and New Jersey. Mick Jagger defended the price, which cost some fans up to £950 (AU$1446) for the deluxe VIP package at the 02 Arena cost.

“You might say, ‘The tickets are too expensive’ – well, it’s a very expensive show to put on, just to do four shows, because normally you do a hundred shows and you’d have the same expenses,” he said.

“So, yes, it’s expensive,” he added. “But most of the tickets go for a higher price than we’ve sold them for, so you can see the market is there. We don’t participate in the profit. If a ticket costs 250 quid, let’s imagine, and goes for 1,000 quid, I just want to point out that we don’t get that difference.”
