Prince Threatens Legal Implications Against Small Time Artist

They say it’s always a risk to meet your idols. Seattle-based artist Troy Gua is probably feeling very close to that cliche at this point in time after his hero, the pop icon Prince, issued a cease and desist notice following a series of short videos featuring Prince’s likeness, without Prince’s permission.

I guess the world isn’t big enough for two Princes, no matter how small and fake the second one might be. Gua is the creative mastermind behind a continued series of YouTube clips depicting a tiny Prince figurine busting out some of the performer’s most iconic dance moves.

Maybe Prince felt threatened by the style and the swagger of the small model of himself because he has since issued a cease and desist letter to Gua, stating that the videos must be removed, and never made again, come 4pm today. Gua posted a Facebook status confirming that he will follow the letter’s demands.

“I will, of course, comply with their demands, whether I agree with them as matters of artistic freedom or not. I simply do not wish to fight with my hero, and it is terribly disheartening to think that he may hold ill will towards me and this project.”
