The Soundscape Festival Bids Adieu

Despite what was by all accounts a stella 2012, Organisers of Tasmania’s Soundscape Festival have announced that they will officially be calling it a day.

With a lineup comprised of acts such as The Temper Trap, Missy Higgins and Blue Juice, you wouldn’t have picked that the recent event would be the last in the brand’s 5-year-running franchise, indeed quite the opposite. The news came from a Facebook post where they thank their loyal repeat customership.

They also use the post as an opportunity to explain the decision, stating that top dog Brendan Self is ready to shake off the flux and flow the biz, choosing to focus more on his personal life. It’s understandable, given the logistics that go into planning and financing festivals of this scale, i.e multiple day events.

This is a scary reminder that we aren’t out of the woods yet. Despite the recent blossoming of the game, it’s still shaky times for a lot of music festivals.
