Bluesfest 2013 Local Acts Announced

We still have to get through a summer of festivals before we reach Bluesfest, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start contemplating who you’ll be checking out at the five-day extravaganza. International acts such as Robert Plant, Iggy & The Stooges and Ben Harper are probably on your to-see list, but now they’ll be contending with a selection of quality local (and adopted) musicians.

Bluesfest first local artists announcement is a doozy that mixes together some of your favourites and some bands you might enjoy discovering at the camping festival. Of course Xavier Rudd is on the bill, bringing his perfectly suited soulful tunes to Bluesfest. The Cat Empire are renowned for their joyous live performance and will have you swivelling your hips.

The Break may not be a name you’re familiar with, but with members from Midnight Oil, Violent Femmes, and Hunters & Collectors, they’ll be worth checking out based on rock and roll stature alone. Other local/NZ acts include Fat Freddy’s Drop, The Bamboos, The Beards, and a live episode of Rockwiz.

That’s not even the half of it, so check out the full Bluesfest first local artist announcement below…
