Michael Hutchence Biopic ‘Two Worlds Colliding’ In The Works

A new film on former INXS frontman Michael Hutchence has been given the go-ahead. As reported by NME, the planned biopic currently goes by the working title Two Worlds Colliding, and will be based on 2000 biography Just a Man: The Real Michael Hutchence.

Writer Bobby Galinsky is on board to adapt the biography – written by Michael’s sister Tina Hutchence and mother Patricia – into a screenplay. Speaking with Encore Magazine, Galinsky revealed that he’d been after this project for more then a decade.

“I chased the idea 12 years ago but there was so much litigation and family issues, it looked too harsh. But recently I was made aware of Trevor Ray Field – who was good friends of Tina Hutchence – and he brought me the book,” Hutchence told Encore, according to NME.

“Over the course of the last month we negotiated the rights with Tina, and we hit the mark. I like music biopics to be about the person, not just sex, drugs and rock’n’roll. It’s going to be a heartfelt, interesting project about a complex life, like Ray or Walk The Line.”

Yesterday marked 15 years since the passing of Hutchence. On November 12 INXS played their final show, 35 years after the band began.
